#01 - Find Your Tribe or Mastermind Group
Suppose you take a look at organizations such as The Bloomsbury Group (1907 through the 1930s), The Algonquin Round Table (the 1920s), or Andy Warhol's Factory (1960s). In that case, you might quickly reason that innovation, intellect, and accomplishment travel in packs. Several members of these and other comparable groups went on to achieve amazing things. So the idea that your colleagues can inspire and cultivate higher levels of imagination and productivity is not farfetched in the slightest. It's a fact.
Connecting with your colleagues allows you to exchange ideas, motivation, support, and advice. Make sure you gauge your frame of mind and intentions after reaching out to your peers. You know you've found the right group or tribe for you when you leave feeling inspired, proud, motivated, and prepared to move ahead.
Mastermind Groups
This concept brings up the idea of Mastermind Groups. Originally conceived and formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in the early 1900s, Mastermind Groups aim to put multiple individuals together to accomplish incredible goals. In his timeless classic, "Think And Grow Rich," he wrote about the Mastermind principle as: "The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony."
My mastermind Artist Groups use Internet video technology to bring together Arts Professionals from all over the world to empower and inspire one another to get their best work into the world. The action the individuals can accomplish as a result of these groups is thrilling.
My Artist Groups are consistently amazed and satisfied with what they can accomplish by connecting with other creative individuals. They can bounce ideas off of each other, ask for feedback, give suggestions for improvement, share insider tips, and provide a network of positive support. You wouldn't believe how incredible it is when you gather a group of people with all sorts of different talents, skills, and backgrounds.
The Power of the Internet
We're lucky, aren't we? Living in this Internet-powered age means we no longer need to live in a major arts hub to connect with people who share our interests, aspirations, and passions.
With a few clicks of a button, you too can easily connect with other inspirational people around the world. There's nothing better than finding someone else in your niche who can relate to the work that you love. Discovering that someone else is just as passionate about writing, painting, sculpting, photographing, or whatever else is your niche is one of the best feelings in the world.
Next, we'll discuss in greater detail the ways you can find like-minded creative peers. Hopefully, you'll be able to use these techniques to find others who can help boost your inspiration.
Join a Creative Group
Message boards, forums, email groups, local blogs, and social media sites are just a click away but don't underestimate the power of connecting with real live human beings. That's when the real work and growth begins.
We all have different goals, so only you know what the ideal 'outlet' looks like.
As an aspiring musical composer in Columbus, Ohio, finding my tribe and creative outlets meant being active in my area's community and professional theatres. Every time I participated - whether it was as a sound designer, actor, musical director, or musician - led me to another opportunity to take on more responsibility or perform. Eventually, one of those theatres produced one of my early shows, which led to its publication and a myriad of other creative opportunities. Well, you get the idea. I believe that becoming a part of the local theatre community was vital. And you know what? Those people are still my friends today, and I count them as some of the most talented people I've had the opportunity to work alongside.
Of course, I'm not trying to discount the importance and usefulness of using the internet to meet people. Meetup.com is one of many excellent ways to engage with new people in your niche. There are thousands of groups in your area. You can find meetups for everything from public speaking to cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
